Tips for Professional Portrait Sessions

Wear something your clients / patients would expect to see you in ...and perhaps a tad dressier. Make sure they fit you well, and the color compliments your hair, eyes and skin tones. Wear something that makes you feel amazing--at the same time, be sure the colors/patterns don't detract from you. For the best advice on clothing/styling, I recommend Cathy Williams at Ten Thousand Colors

Be sure that you have a haircuts/style that you really like, and have any cut/color done at least a week or two before your session. You can help your portrait a lot when your skin and lips are well moisturized prior to our session (Trader Joe’s spearmint/olive oil lip balm is awesome for lips!) Make-up should be simple, and not too shiny. If you are really unsure about how to apply make-up, I highly suggest either a make-up consultation (where they sell make-up) or scheduling a make-up artist (contact me for details).

Taking extra special care of yourself in the week leading up to your photo session. Drink plenty of water for a few days leading up to your portrait. This will make your skin very hydrated to fill in lines and wrinkles, under-eye circles, and give you a healthy glow. Get plenty of sleep the night before, so you're rested and ready to go.

Getting a professional portrait can sometimes be a bit daunting. Congratulate yourself for taking the time, and making the investment in a image that your clients will connect with. My personality is easy-going and relaxed--helping you to look and feel your best.

Enjoy yourself! Leave the rest up to me!
